Freezing heat exchangers
During the winter months there is an increased risk of frost on the heat exchangers. Frost can damage your heat exchanger to the extent that it needs replacement. To prevent this you can take measures.
During previous winters we have received reports of customers who had their heat exchangers frozen because their supply pump went into alarm or the CHP switched off.
To prevent freezing Dorset recommends to use a glycol solution during the winter months. For example a 40% glycol solution already protects against frost up to -25ºC. To fill up your system with the right glycol mixture please read the manual that comes with the glycol mixture and contact your plumber.
It’s recommended to use water in the summer months to maximize heat consumption of the dryer.
